2023 Honda Civic SI Dimensions, Models, Specs – Honda produced the first Civic Si in 1986, substituting a fuel injection system for the 1.5-liter engine’s carburetors. The engine improved throughout the decades, and the Si model became the enthusiast’s preferred choice. Until 2023, the Si will be powered by a 1.5-liter engine. On the other side, the eleventh-generation Civic Si is turbocharged, delivering 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque rather than 91 hp and 91 lb-ft. Always athletic, always functional, and always reasonably priced.
We drove up to the canyons of Los Angeles County to spend the day familiarizing ourselves with the new Si. While the Civic is less powerful than the Volkswagen Jetta GLI and even the previous-generation Civic Si, it is a more agile and lighter sedan than Volkswagen’s offering. As with previous Civic Si models, the new one comes only with a manual transmission. On the other hand, Honda is not happy to sit on its laurels. Honda told us that this is the best-performing Si to date and that Honda has pushed the chassis adjustment to its utmost.
Honda Civic SI 2023 Redesign
Honda gave the 2017 Civic a baby Accord style and dialed down some of the bold design choices made on the previous generation and almost every subsequent iteration. On the other hand, the Si retains a measure of its brightness. We like the honeycomb grille mesh, beefier bumpers, gloss black rear spoiler, and twin oval tailpipes, which are a substantial upgrade over the previous centrally situated trapezoidal tailpipes. Additionally, the Si is available in the stunning Blazing Orange Pearl paint color, exclusive to the Si. Standard equipment includes 18-inch matte black alloy wheels, LED headlights, gloss black side mirrors, and a one-touch motorized sunroof. The Si HPT variation swaps the original car’s all-season tires with high-performance summer tires.
However, there is something we do not understand, and we feel Honda committed an error. While the matte black wheels are stunning, the glossy black trim seems out of place. The black coating appears to be spread over the area when seen up close. This detracts from the more streamlined design of the Si. We would like gloss black wheels and trim on the standard model and matte black wheels and trim on the HPT variation if cost is a consideration.
According to Honda, the 2023 Civic Si features a 1.4-inch longer wheelbase and a 0.5-inch wider rear track than the previous model, which improves stability and handling. Furthermore, the body is somewhat longer than it was before. The new Civic Si has a 107.7-inch wheelbase, a 184-inch length, a 55.5-hair diameter, and a 70.9-hair width.
Honda’s new Civic series has an interior that is straightforward and uncomplicated, made of solid materials, and shockingly free of frills. A metal honeycomb dashboard panel is one of the most noticeable elements of this vehicle, even though it has minimal influence on its use. Physical volume knob and ventilation system controls are acceptable options, and each of these switches operates with gratifying firmness.
The Civic Si is defined by many characteristics that differentiate it from less expensive Civic versions. All models are equipped with sport pedals, red contrast stitching on the center armrest and doors, and a standard Bose audio system. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and a nine-inch touchscreen interface are included as standard. This cabin was meticulously designed to incorporate everything you need while leaving out anything you don’t.
Honda altered the engine in the Civic Si’s succeeding generation. While the 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine maintains turbocharging, it now generates 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque between 1,800 and 5,000 rpm, 300 rpm more than before. The peak energy output has been lowered by five horsepower compared to the previous generation. Honda believes the lighter, single-mass flywheel increases throttle responsiveness. While there was no increase in torque arrival time, the more lightweight flywheel still generates perceptible rev-hang. While the rev-hang has no impact on driving, we anticipate service departments to explain to specific clients why the engine does not swiftly reduce its rpm when changing gears.
The Civic Si was available with a six-speed manual gearbox with shorter throws by 10%. The Si includes a rev-matching technology for the first time. Technology evolved from the high-performance engine used in the Civic Type R. Drivers may personalize their experience by choosing between three driving modes: regular, sport, or individual.
