2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Engine, Redesign, Price

2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Engine, Redesign, PriceThe Honda Civic is a solid compact car with enjoyable driving dynamics and excellent ride comfort. Regardless of which engine you choose, it provides rapid acceleration and excellent fuel economy. In 2024, the Civic will be offered in two body styles: sedan and hatchback, which offer plenty of passenger and baggage capacity. The Civic is a finalist in our Best Compact Car for the Money category for 2024 because of its perfect balance of quality and affordability.

The 2024 Honda Civic Hatch is an entirely new model made in the United States for the first time. Honda has improved safety, fuel economy, and refinement with the 11th generation Civic, which uses innovative manufacturing technologies that make it lighter and stronger than its predecessors.

2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Redesign

Despite the hatchback’s declining popularity in the United States, the Civic’s design has stood the test of time. With the 2018 standard year’s enhanced Euro-inspired fastback design, the civic hatch will draw even more buyers who like the sporty style. The base model has 16-inch alloy wheels, the EX-L has 17-inch wheels, and the Sport and Sport Touring have 18-inch wheels. Standard across the board, LED headlights and taillights are standard, with LED fog lights added to the top-end variants. Sport Touring trims have a one-touch power moonroof, and EX-L trims get twin exhaust finishers. The window surrounds and other elements of the Sport are finished in black.

With so many changes made to the new hatch, it’s only natural that the proportions will differ from the previous model. The Civic Hatchback for 2024 is 179 inches long with a 107.7-inch wheelbase. Both measurements are slightly longer than the 2021 model. The height is 55.7 inches, and the width is 70.9 inches.

According to Honda, the Civic Hatchback’s back seat is the roomiest it’s ever been. Back passengers have 37.4 inches of legroom and 37.1 inches of headroom, while front passengers have 42.3 inches and 39.3 inches. The minimalist interior makes it appear much larger than it is, and the overall layout is functional. The driver’s posture is good, and sight is clear, even though lower models have manually adjusted front seats and only the highest trims provide eight-way power adjustment.

Honda wanted the inside to be clean, simple, and sporty, and we believe it succeeded. Soft leather seats with a redesigned seat structure and cushion are standard on the Sport Touring model. According to Honda, it enhances “sitting bone” support and adds thigh and chest support. We found them very comfortable but a little flat when we had to zig-zag through S-curves when we tried them out.

There are 2 powertrain options in the range. The base engine is the same 2.0-liter I4 found in base Civic Sedans. It produces 150 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a CVT automatic transmission in both the LX and Sport, while the latter offers the option of a six-speed manual transmission. The upper two grades retain the 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine from last year, which produces 179 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque and is connected to a CVT, but the Sport Touring may be called with a manual transmission.

We’re not fans of CVTs in general, but they can be entertaining when they’re designed for ferocity. For the first time, the CVT-equipped Civic Hatch, like the sedan, gets a Sport mode. This setting accelerates the throttle and keeps the CVT closer to the Civic’s 6,000-rpm peak output point. If you want performance thrills, the manual is still the way.
